A right Royal treat

Thrilled and humbled to have a chat about fighting fakes online with His Majesty The King at the The King’s Awards for Enterprise reception last week in Windsor. It was great to hear of The King’s understanding of the link between counterfeits and serious organised crime, in addition to a thorough appreciation of the potential dangers to consumers and the wider economic impact. The grace and speed with which His Majesty turned his mind to a myriad of very different conversations is quite mind blowing!

SnapDragon was honoured with an International Trade award, reflecting significant export growth over the last three years. Given these included those of the pandemic, this recognition is hugely deserved by our fabulous, expert team who always go the extra mile to protect businesses, organisations and individuals from a myriad of online threats.

Having started the business because my own product was counterfeited, and been fueled by fury to fight back by proving an MVP, raising money, finding experts to build the tech and an international team of True Dragons to deliver and sell it (in a nutshell), the early years of bootstrapping through the wee sma’ ours seemed a far cry from the glorious surroundings of Windsor Castle.

The reception was a true celebration of innovation and tenacity providing a couple of hours of reflection, with incredible company, of what can be achieved in the face of adversity.

The stories from those I met were inspiring, heart warming, jaw dropping, enthralling and frequently hugely entertaining. It was almost as much of an honour to meet James Timpson, appointed only yesterday as the Minister of State for Prisons, Parole and Probation, as the King himself!

Very many thanks to all at the King’s Award office and at the Royal Household for their management of what can only be described as a truly glorious party!

And my Dragons, thank you ALL and many congratulations.
